Susan and Gregg -- September 1, 2007 Highgrove Estate
“I do feel that she captured the day, she did more than capture it…it was like a storybook from beginning to end. Family members that have seen the pictures say "they just can't stop looking at them". I think Nancy is a wonderful person that knows how to take wonderful pictures. She knows how to put you at ease. You have to be able to like the person, and their personality as well as be comfortable around them. I wanted my husband to be comfortable with having someone take his picture all day. Our engagement photos came out great too. The session was of Gregg, the 2 dogs and myself. She was awesome when it came to working with Gregg and the dogs. The day was so wonderful I wish I could do it all over again and I would still hire Nancy.”

Q: What was the deciding factor in choosing Nancy Thomas Photography as your wedding photographer and in regards to packages, what aspects appealed to you the most?
A: “The photojournalism style of your pictures and the 8 hour wedding package. Many of the photographers that I looked at would do a “5-hour-wedding-day-package” or sometimes less and then charged their hourly price for any extra hours… or, some photographers would charge close to $10,000 for an all-day-wedding shoot.  Yours also included an engagement/bridal photo session.  I thought it was the best package anyone had offered because that’s all that I wanted. I definitely liked the “pick and choose” style of your products, so we can really tailor the products down to what we really wanted/needed. Your price was definitely worth its value!  Your pictures were AMAZING.  I’ve looked through many of my friends’ albums and their pictures weren’t nearly as “emotional”.  I could be biased though  but even with weddings that I’ve been in, their pictures weren’t nearly as good.  I know several of my friends who say “I wish I had never gone with X as my photographer” or “I should have picked a better photographer” or “I wouldn’t recommend my photographer” and I DEFINITELY feel that I picked the right one  I think that even at a higher price (because I know I got you for a super-low price compared to other wedding photographers), you’re still definitely a better photographer than people who are charging upwards of $10,000 for their all-day-wedding package. Both of our parents LOVED the album, and I can't emphasize the LOVED part enough! Thanks again for doing such a fantastic job with our albums and pictures!!

“We were amazed at how many pictures Nancy took!  And she was so easy to work with throughout the day!  The pictures look amazing! I don't know if anyone could have captured it any better!!!!!!!  They really do tell the story of our day! Everyone kept commenting on how it looked like Nancy never sat down!  They could tell that she was really trying to get "that shot" all the time! There are some shots of our wedding ceremony that I don't even know how she got the shots! We also did an engagement session with Nancy before the wedding, and that really helped us feel comfortable around her, which helped make the pictures on the wedding day that much easier!  We learned how to take pictures while doing a "dip" during our engagement session day, so we were pros at it on the wedding day.  And those pictures are some of our best ones! I really cannot say enough good things about Nancy!  She really made the day so much easier than I thought it would be! And her attitude was so upbeat, and soothing!  If she was stressed, it didn't show, which made it easier for me not to get stressed!

“I should start out with sharing my opinion about Nancy. Nancy was so much fun to work with. She'll say things to make you smile and break the nervousness and tension. You definitely have to meet Nancy or any photographer you are interviewing to know who you can work with and who understands what you are looking for. I met up with Nancy once and we “clicked”. Nancy knew exactly what I wanted after 1 meeting. I think that's why we worked so well together. I think there are some things that made Nancy stand out to me, starting from my bridal portraits, to rehearsal dinner photos, to our wedding day. She didn’t limit the number of pictures she took. That makes me nervous about other photographers. If they reach their limit, do they just leave? Nancy and her assistant were absolute troopers. My wedding day was LONG. They started the day with us around 12:30 and didn’t leave until after the garter toss at like 9pm or so. We knew it would be a long day, and just agreed on which event would be the last I needed photographed. I'm not sure if other photographers would have stayed with us that long. Their quality did not dwindle as the night went on. They took excellent shots of everything while they were there. I think that is beyond what I could ask for. (3) I am so glad Nancy had an assistant. We had about 200 people. I think it's sketchy when other photographers come, and there is only 1 person expected to take pics of 200+ people. I liked her so much that I volunteered to help her at the bridal show in January. I like her enough to suggest to the Sheraton Raleigh that they add her on to their vendor list. I enjoyed that 1 hour portrait session so much (I used it for bridal photos), that I asked her to take pics at our rehearsal dinner as well. She is an independent photographer who works for herself, because it is her passion. She is not 1 of 20 in a group, where you don’t even know who is coming to take pictures. Going with a big company with anything you do in your wedding can be very impersonal.

Jennifer and Jason—August 5, 2006 Highgrove Estate
“Nancy had our proofs ready a week after we got back from our honeymoon. She was very professional and the images captured our day very well. Nancy took about 1000 total pictures throughout the day and is able to capture the nuances that even you may not even realize are going on and because Nancy also will bring an assistant with her, they are able to get all the formal shots before and after the ceremony as well as candid shots from several angles. The one thing that I really appreciated about Nancy was that she and her assistant were very good at capturing the pictures but never once did I feel like they were in the way or in your face and saying 'cheez'.  This was one of the most important things to me. She was very efficient with what I needed for formal pictures and since she doesn't take posed pictures during the day. She was not just on time…(we weren't waiting for her during the time we were all getting dressed, etc.)...she came early to get set up.  She had even visited the site days before to make sure she had the best ideas and was familiar with the lighting for the formal pictures before the actual day.  Also, when we had to go through 1000 pictures, she sat down with us and helped us narrow it down since this can be a very overwhelming task.
